Welcome to the Gifted and Talented Program
I am looking forward to a wonderful and productive 2018-2019 school year!
Fall Semester:
Our 2018-2019 theme for GT is "Community: Making It Matter". We will examine this theme throughout the year with a focus on these skills:
Critical Thinking
Interpersonal Relationships
Quality Work
Self Discipline
Creative Thinking
Time Management
Problem Solving
Risk Taking
As always, we will continue to incorporate higher level thinking skills through the use of Sandra Kaplan's Depth and Complexity icons and interdisciplinary connections.
Generalizations:
Key Questions:
Spring Semester:
Our spring semester goal will be for students to continue developing their fall group project, to develop an in-depth individual project on a topic of great interest, or to participate in weekly design challenges. Students will be given class time for project work in groups or as individuals, and may also spend outside time working on their projects, but I would encourage them to work in class. There are three main criteria for the individual projects: creative thinking, new learning, and higher level thinking.
World Peace Game
Each 8th grade class will participate in an amazing problem solving activity called "The World Peace Game". Please click the link to read more!
